Certified Diagnosis

Are you experiencing problems with attention, memory or concentration that are affecting your school performance and grades?

Letters for ADHD AccommodationsNorthern California Neurotherapy gives you a special advantage in discovering what kinds of issues are interfering with your learning process. Our use of the QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram, or brain-wave test) not only precisely identifies subtypes of Attention Deficit Disorder, but also pinpoints other conditions that may either mask as AD(H)D, or exist along with it*. This is accomplished with the following assessment tools:

  1. A Clinical History in which we gather information about early school performance, home relationships, special difficulties with learning, and a consideration of any mental/emotional problems that have been diagnosed or treated in childhood or early adulthood.
  2. A 20-min TOVA test (Test Of Variables of Attention).
  3. A QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram, or brain wave test) that takes about 30 min, is painless, and indicates the brain criteria for ADD, ADHD, oppositional-defiant disorder, anxiety, depression, and many other syndromes that may qualify the patient for a 504 Accommodation.
  4. The Wender-Utah Rating Scale for Children and Adults
  5. Any information from prior school testing, parent reports, teacher assessments, or medical tests that would help to identify the issues that are interfering with the learning process.

A Certified Letter of Assessment will be written and sent to your educational institution to document your learning issues and support the need for 504 Accommodations.

*Our comprehensive assessment for issues that interfere with learning may uncover other disorders that either mask as AD(H)D or exist along with it. Some examples are:

  • Learning or language problems
  • Mood disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Seizure disorders
  • Vision or hearing problems
  • Tourette syndrome
  • Sleep disorders
  • Thyroid medication
  • Substance abuse
  • Brain injury
